| Pineapple Supply Situation of Thailand |
| After encountering with continuous drought over than 5 months from November 2006 to early April 2007, there are some rainfall in Prachuab Khirikhan in the mid of April 2007 caused by the storms coming past Thailand during this period of time. Nevertheless, there are no any positive signs to output of raw material for summer crop. |
| The quantity of fruits in summer 2007 is still limited and raw material supply is actually decreased as compared with last year. Although fruit price slightly goes down, it is still in the high level of price -- The average price read at 5.00 Baht/ Kg. This is because it still has high demand of production that affects to high competition among factories to acquire raw material continuously. Moreover, consistent drastic rainfall in several consecutive days obstructs farmers to harvest fruits and flood leads to some perished fruits. |
| Besides this, producers are impacted by problem of significant strengthen Thai Baht against the US Dollar. Furthermore, some shipping agents have changed regulation of acceptable cargo weight to European destination by collecting extra charge for weight above 18 Ton/ 20’container. |
